Ch – 6 What Is That?

The master of concealment and shadow manipulation- Amber, who was also a lover of grave robbing, fit the words,’ The path is right there; door is but a decoration. As long as you overcome your mind, even the royal treasury was merely a celery stalk away from being breached.’

Fine, this world probably didn’t have celery. However, as far as Amber was concerned, she didn’t even need celery to break into this ancient tomb.

With but a little skill in shadow arts, a little knowledge of ancient restrictions, and a teeny bit of luck, this little half-elf broke the restrictions of Cecil Clan’s Ancestral Tomb as if walking in a park. The secret passage, which even Heidi and Rebecca didn’t know, appeared before everybody.

Thereupon, everybody entered the secret passage under the lead of Amber.

The passages of the castle, which were made of rocks and Soul Suppressing Bricks, were much wider than what one might expect. Even Gawen and Byron, who were almost two meters tall, didn’t feel cramped inside the passage. The magic lanterns embedded in the walls had already been dried up, but following Heidi’s use of several magic spells in succession, these ancient lanterns lit up one by one, illuminating the path ahead of them.

“I’m but a small thief, barely able to feed myself.” Amber walked at the front and modestly spoke,”But as a descendant of forest elves, I’m very respectful to the spirits of ancestors. How could I do something such as grave robbing?”

Gawen disdained her words to no end,”Care to explain why are you so skillful, then?”

Perhaps truly believing that her life was no longer in danger, this half-elf’s skin thickened as much as the swing-up passage gate she’d just opened,”Lock-picking skills and infiltration are the staple of our profession. I’ve good basics. Is there something wrong with that?”

At this moment, Rebecca, who was walking in the middle, suddenly asked,”You are a citizen of Cecil Land?”

Amber thought for a moment before answering,”I’ve stayed here for several years, but never applied for official citizenship. According to your rules, those who’ve lived more than three years and paid taxes on time can be regarded as citizens….You tell me, am I considered one?”

Rebecca shook her head,”If you didn’t apply, no.”

“Ehhh….” Amber stretched her voice,”Why are you asking, then?”

“I’m the lord of this land,”Rebecca gravely said,”So if you are my citizen, I’ve an obligation to protect you.”

Amber,”…..Then you should have said so earlier! Can I still apply for one right now?”

Rebecca replied with a grave face,”No.”

Gawen switched his gaze back and forth between Rebecca’s grave face and shameless Amber and couldn’t help but let out a laugh of exasperation.

Although he’d found himself in this terrible mess as soon as he woke up, he was indeed feeling much better compared to his previous ghost-like state.

He glanced at Heidi behind him. This great great great…..granddaughter of his had been sneaking glances at him every few moments. He’d been waiting for her to speak, but she didn’t seem to have any intention of actually doing so. Thus, he could only take the initiative,”What are you thinking about? Just be out with it.”

Rebecca was slightly stunned, but she immediately sucked in a deep breath and calmed down. She then looked at Gawen’s face, which was the same as the portraits in the clans, and cautiously spoke,”Ancestor……I’m still having trouble believing that you’re really….”

“That’s all right. I’m really Gawen Cecil, the pioneer from seven hundreds ago. I can recount all my thirty years of experience, or I can tell you about other founders. But, in reality, all of these can’t really be considered clear evidence, right? You might even find an outstanding historian’s words more credible. After all, I’m not really that eloquent.” Gawen shrugged,”You want to confirm my identity, no?”

“Please forgive my suspicions,” Heidi immediately said,”This is really a little…….Although tales of reincarnation have been out there since the ancient era……but seeing one personally is a whole different matter. I’ve heard that some holy knights and silver moon elves can remain in the state of fake death for several years or even decades, relying on holy light and secret eleven arts to preserve their soul and life force. However, I’ve never heard of a human knight being able to do so, not to mention……you’ve been dead for seven hundred years.”

“To tell you the truth, I’ve no idea what happened either.” Gawen shook his head.” Although Gawen would very much like to make a flawless theory on the spot and feed it to this great great great…….granddaughter of his, be it his memories or Gawen Cecil’s, he could not think of a convincing argument. Therefore, he could only bluntly state his own ignorance,” I’ve received elemental blessings back in the day when we were marching through the wastelands. It might have changed my body.”

“Oh……” Heidi declined to comment, then suddenly raised her head, looking at the path ahead.

“Airflow……” She spoke in a low voice,”And a distinct mana reaction. This should be the end of the tomb section.”

Gawen faintly nodded and clenched Founding Sword. He’d an inexplicable feeling that they would face danger ahead.

“Raise your guard,” Knight Byron, who had been walking at the front with Amber, seemed to have felt the same. He pulled out his steel broadsword and gently swiped his other hand over it. A faint silver glow immediately covered the sword’s blade,”You three, cover the back.”

Metal clinking sounds rang out. The three soldiers had already entered their battle mode. Although they were only fighters of the most basic profession, they were the ultimate survivors from the fight against the monsters and also the elite warriors carefully nurtured by Cecil Clan. Their fearless and calm appearance let the slightly nervous Amber and the little maid, who was protected in the middle, calm down.

The tomb’s passage ran quite deep, but they finally covered it. The Soul Suppressing Stones embedded on both walls at every ten meters was the mark of the tomb section. When these stones disappeared, a rather wide crossroads like region appeared before them.

This was the intersection of the castle’s base and the tomb. It was also the connection hub of these ancient secret passages.

Amber pointed at a crossroad and said,”I entered from there. It opens to a water well outside the castle. But that place is most likely occupied by monsters now.”

Gawen turned to Heidi and asked,”Which way is west?”

Heidi drew a simple magic rune in the air with her hand. The rune turned into a flag and swayed in a particular direction.

“This way.” As soon as Gawen spoke, a sense crisis assaulted his mind.

He’d no time to think, but his experienced body was one step ahead of his mind. He almost subconsciously raised Founding Sword and blocked. He immediately felt as if being struck by a hammer.

His body slightly swayed for a moment. The next moment, his body stabilized but the attacker also appeared before everybody accompanied by an indistinct murmuring. Three tall and swaying figures appeared from one of the dark crossroads!

It was an appearance that no natural creature could have. They seemed more like monsters created jointly by necromancers and demonic arts practitioners. They were three meters tall and looked like deformed and shriveled human giants. However, their bodies seemed to be made of some sort of slurry substance like mud. This slurry substance was pulsating at their outer bodies, even forming huge cavities every few moments. Inside the cavities, crimson bones could be clearly seen.

“Ah!” The moment three monsters appeared, Rebecca let out a short cry, and Betty bit her lips, seeming as if she would start weeping at any moment. Heidi raised her wand and heavily tapped it on the ground, using a weak mind clearing spell. It weakened the terrorizing effect brought by the monsters on everybody. At the same time she hurriedly spoke to Gawen,”Ancestor, these are the monsters!”

By this moment, Gawen had already snapped out of the impact of facing such non-human monsters for the first time. The relevant memories immediately appeared in his mind,”It’s these things!”

The three monsters launched their assault again. Amidst constant murmurs that sounded like someone’s sleep talking, two of the monsters charged towards Gawen’s party, while the third raised his arm, condensed a dark energy arrow before his arm within a second, and flew straight towards Amber who was standing at the forefront.

“Ai!” Amber let out a cry before her entire being shrunk into the shadow behind Knight Byron, then appeared into another shadow ten meters away. Meanwhile, Knight Byron raised his glowing silver broadsword and roared, taking the initiative to charge at one the incoming monsters.

“Heidi, Rebecca, you two take care of the dark arrows! Avoid using arcane arts, it’s almost useless on these things! Amber, you and soldiers protect the casters!” Gawen roared and raised his sword, preparing himself for the face-off.

He’d never fought with a sword.

He’d never any such monsters either.

Even after rebirth, this was the first time he was standing in this world on his own two legs.

Therefore, he had no clue how much he could accomplish relying on the remnant battle instinct of his body, battle techniques from his memories, and an ancient sword which had completely lost its magic power.

However, life often doesn’t give you the option of choice.

You are here, and monsters are  right there. There is nowhere for you to run. Your hand holds a seven hundred year old sword. There was a shield too, but it was lost by a prodigal descendant. But what can you do?

Fuck!

Aren’t they just deformed bodies?

Gawen Cecil from seven hundred years ago could destroy a hundred of them on his own!

Now there are only three! You think I’ll still fail?!

Chapter 5- Little Robber Girl Acts

Gawen wondered if this little girl was smacked in her head during the fight before and was suffering from brain damage. He held onto his temper nevertheless,”I’ve been ‘staying’ here for many years …I’ve been dead all these years! Tell me, after dying will you even know the length or shape of your tomb?”

Rebecca thought for a moment and recalled that the tombs of her Ancestor and Founding Emperor had already been designed when they were alive. Even the King himself participated in the designing. However, after carefully considering her options, she felt that if she spoke again, she would most likely be killed by Aunt Heidi on the spot. Thus, she could only force the words down her throat, then reveal an awkward smile,”Hehe……makes sense….”

“We can’t return the way we came from.” Heidi let out a sigh before calmly speaking,”The courtyard and the tomb’s entrance has already fallen into the hands of monsters. Going that way is suicide.”

“We have to find another way,” Gawen recalled the memories he’d inherited while speaking,”Seven hundred years have passed. I’m afraid this castle’s structure is no longer the same, no?”

“The upper floor has been renovated several times, but the basic structure is still the same,”Heidi hurriedly said,”The passage you mentioned should still be there.”

“Good, that will do.”Gawen said and extended his hand towards the soldier beside him,”Lend me a sword.”

Taking the sword, Gawen drew a basic outline of the castle, then drew the side view of the three layers. Although it was a rough sketch, the division of the different regions was quite clear.

“This is the entrance- in the second layer underground, near the wine cellar and food storehouse; well, wine cellar and food storage from back in the day. There are two ways, but both these ways have to be accessed from outside. Thus, they aren’t of much use.”

Rebecca curiously looked at the sketch,”Wine cellar and food storehouse are still there, but I never knew there is a third room between them…”

“It’s not a room, but kind of a loft, hidden between walls and support pillars with a little ingenious construction technique.” Gawen faintly smiled,”in those days, this territory was not that peaceful. Monsters and the crazed army of the empire knocked at our doors in every ten-fifteen days. In the earliest days, Cecil Castle was established only for the purpose of holding the line. Therefore, secret passages and tunnels were an indispensable part of the construction- to escape or ask for supplies in case of entrapment.”

Knight Byron gravely observed the simple map for a few moments, then took out his own longsword and drew underneath the map,”So we should head to the second layer’s entrance…..and we have to avoid any passage leading to the courtyard above. This is our current position. The Ancestral Tomb is in the southeast, and it takes almost a third of the castle’s foundation….”

“Then there should be a way in this one-third region,” Gawen interrupted the knight,”This castle was created seven years ago. The artisan lot back then mostly made strongholds. These constructions are also according to the rules and standards of that time. There has to be a reserve passage.”

Saying these words, he looked at Rebecca a little strangely,”You really don’t know any of this? These things should be passed down through generations.”

Rebecca lowered her head embarrassed,”I…”

“Ancestor, we failed to live up to the glory you brought to the clan,” Heidi bit her lip and spoke with difficulty,”Many things have happened in Cecil Clan after seven hundred years…”

“Alright, I understand.” Gawen waved his hand. This was not the time for stories,”I’ll have you properly explain what happened in these seven hundred years after we leave this place. But first, we have to find a way out of the tomb.”

Rebecca, Heidi, and Byron squatted beside the crude maps and began to study them. Although they knew the castle, they were not clear on the structure inside the tomb. The ancestral tomb was not a tourist attraction that you could visit every few days. Even a hundred years ago, when the tomb was not off-limits, the heirs of the clan could only visit the tomb a few times in their lifetime. Moreover, they were still not allowed to disturb the resting place of their ancestors.

Who knew where the secret passage was!

In the face of this problem, Gawen’s memories were also useless. After all, back when he died, he could not have imagined that he would have to look for a way out after crawling out of his coffin…..

However, just as they were at their wits’ end, Amber, who had been standing without making a single sound, said,”Um…i might know the way…”

Everybody immediately turned their gazes towards the little half-elf thief.

Amber’s neck suddenly shrunk.

Heidi frowned and said,”How do you know?”

“I……” Amber was a little scared, but seeing Gawen looking at her with an encouraging gaze, she gathered her courage,”I entered from there… the direction is almost a perfect match. I think it’s the secret passage you’re talking about.”

Gawen faintly nodded,”Good. Lead the way.”

Amber patted her chest,”It’s fine as long as you don’t bring up the matter of me robbing your Ancestor’s grave…”

Heidi shot a glare towards this blabbering half-elf. She then raised the wand in her hand, turned around, and headed towards the burial chamber’s gate. However, Gawen, who was walking beside her, suddenly stopped.

“Ancestor?” Rebecca curiously looked at him.

“I need a weapon too.” Gawen said. Although he was no legendary Duke from seven hundred years ago, he had enough common sense to look for a weapon in such a situation.

His gaze swept through the burial chamber, and one of the soldiers offered the sword on his waist. However, Gawen politely rejected his offer. According to his memories, he arrived before the steel coffin and reached out inside.

He found a pitch-black heavy longsword. The sword’s blade near the crossguard was giving off a faint red hue.

As soon as the sword entered his hand, an inconceivably familiar aroused in his mind, as if every grain of the hilt matched with his finger lines. Gawen subconsciously waved the sword a few times, feeling as if he’d practiced these movements infinite times.

He knew that this was due to the memories left behind for him. Even though the soul had changed, every muscle of his body still remembered how to use this sword.

Although it was a pleasant surprise, it was not too surprising.

Apart from the memories, his mind also had experiences of Gawen Cecil’s fighting styles. He not only possessed sword skills and horse-riding skills, he also had Gawen Cecil’s almost mystical superhuman strength. It was certainly enough to make one moved, but this was not the time for experiments and trying things out.

It could only come after escaping this mess.

The moment Rebecca saw the black sword, her eyes wide opened. Her voice trembled as she spoke,”This is…the legendary Founding Sword?”

Hearing Rebecca’s words, Heidi, who had reached the gate, instantly turned around. She unblinkingly stared at the sword in Gawen’s hand before speaking in a deeply moved voice,”Founding Sword?”

“Currently it’s nothing more than a pretty sharp sword,”Gawen sighed,”Seven hundred years……Even though a weapon blessed by elves will not erode, the magic power inside has emptied long ago. Who knows how much time it will take to replenish it again.”

While speaking, Gawen turned his gaze to the short stone stand before the coffin. Seeing that there was nothing on the stand, Gawen frowned,”Hold on, there should be a shield as well. What happened to my shield? How can such a big shield disappear?”

Heidi’s face instantly turned unsightly,”Ancestor…. your descendants have disappointed you again. A hundred years ago, your descendant Gruman Cecil took the shield from the tomb … then lost on the battlefield…”

Heidi stuttered non-stop while speaking, clearly not daring to speak much. Perhaps she feared that if she told that huge event from a hundred years ago in detail, her ancestor would immediately pass away in heatstroke, though taking care of funeral would be quite easy since the grave was already prepared and right here…

Gawen could feel Heidi’s hesitation. However, he didn’t point it out and merely spoke with a frown,”Imprudent black sheep…. Fortunately, the sword was inside the coffin. That Gruman wasn’t enough of a degenerate to open his Ancestor’s coffin, how fortunate!”

Heidi and Rebecca could only listen with their heads lowered and cold sweat on their forehead. Their ancestor walked out from his grave and cursed their grandparents. It could not get any more exaggerated than this. As the young generation, they couldn’t even breathe properly.

Fortunately, Gawen was only feeling a bit resentful at the loss of a shield that could have come in handy. After spewing a few curses, he didn’t continue and led everybody out of the burial chamber.

Arriving in the stone hall, Rebecca looked around then waved both of her hands,”Betty! Come out, it’s safe!”

Gawen curiously looked over and spotted a petite little girl, who seemed even younger than Rebecca, timidly walking out from a dark corner. The girl was dressed in a coarse dress; her face had a few freckles, and her flaxen hair was draped around her shoulders. She was tightly clutching a frying pan in her hands.

Upon seeing Gawen, the little girl’s face clearly turned hesitant and tensed. With her brain, she had no chance of guessing where did this stranger pop out from…

“This is a maid of the castle. We also don’t know how she was left behind by the first group and instead followed us clueless.” Rebecca gave a simple introduction,”Betty, this is…”

Faint tremors coming from the surface cut off Rebecca’s words.

“We have no time,” Gawen raised his sword and looked at Amber,”Lead the way, now!”

Chapter 4 – Waking Up In A Terrible Mess

Gawen felt his condition rapidly improving and mind slowly clearing. His control over his new body had improved to the extent that he could perform basic movements without any trouble, allowing him to eventually turn his attention to the still detained girl,”Speak…what’s going on with her?”

The little half-elf had been trying her hardest to fade her existence, hoping that these members of Cecil Clan would be shocked enough to overlook the fact that somebody had been robbing their ancestor’s grave. However, before she could find a chance to escape, Gawen’s gaze landed on her. Thereupon, the little girl had no choice but to shrink her neck and reveal a pitiful face,”I only came to hide….”

“You didn’t have to go into the deepest part of the tomb to hide!” Heidi immediately glared at her, then turned to Gawen,”Ancestor, it was this despicable grave robber who blasphemed your burial chamber and disturbed your rest!”

Gawen stared blankly for a moment, then looked at the half-elf girl with a strange gaze,”In other words, you were the one to wake me?”

If not for the limitations of human body, the little girl’s head would have shrunk into her birth canal. She spoke in a trembling voice,”I really didn’t do anything! From the start, I was only looking for a safe place to hide. But due to old habits, I couldn’t help myself. However, I really didn’t do anything here!”

Gawen thought for a moment, then seriously said,”In short, thank you.”

The little thief,”….Ai?”

Including Rebecca and Heidi, everybody,”…Ha?”

“Ahem …let her go. You four big fellows holding down a small lass doesn’t look good.” After expressing his thanks, Gawen also realized he’d slipped up a bit. Since he couldn’t change his tone now, he could only continue,”It doesn’t fit a knight’s spirit. Yep, knight’s spirit.”

Heidi’s face turned hesitant,”But Ancestor, she is….”

“I’ve thanked her for awakening me from my slumber,”Gawen waved his hand and said,”Let it be. I don’t have anything to say, why are you making a fuss?”

Knight Byron threw a strange glance at this Cecil Clan’s ‘Ancestor’. In the end, it was Heidi who instructed her with her eyes to retract his sword. The three soldiers followed the suit after him.

The little half-elf looked at all four of them for a moment, confirming that they were not trying to trick her, then slowly and carefully stood up. She seriously looked at Gawen,”Um…You’re an elder; don’t go back on your word!”

Heidi’s eyes jumped. It took all of her self-restraint, which she had been festering throughout her life as a noble, to not just go ahead and beat the crap out of this little thief.

Gawen curiously looked at the little girl. From his recently obtained memories, he could judge that she was a mixed breed elf,”What is your name?”

The little half-elf blinked her eyes,”Amber.”

Gawen stroked his chin,”Amber? You seem like a forest elf…”

At this point, Heidi suddenly spoke, interrupting the conversation between Gawen and the half-elf,”Ancestor, forgive my interruption…But this is not the time to talk. We are not completely safe here!”

Gawen tried hard to fit into his new identity. He gravely looked at Heidi and asked,”What happened outside?”

“It’s the monsters!” Rebecca, who had been standing quietly beside him for a while, shouted,”Monsters poured in from Celine Pass and mines! The troops and guards were no match for those monsters. I’m afraid that the entire clan will be occupied by the monsters by now …”

“We tried to put up a resistance with everything we had; we carried out rescue operations for the public under the lead of Knight Philip and a small group of soldiers. However, before we could lead the second group out, those monsters destroyed the bridge.” Heidi picked on Rebeccas words,”I and Rebecca didn’t disgrace the name of Heidi Clan; these brave soldiers are the same. We battled inside the castle for final fifteen minutes, then the entrance was also breached, and we had to retreat here.”

Thereupon, Gawen asked a few more questions, finally getting the complete picture of the situation.

This was the ancestral land of Cecil Clan, passed down by their first ancestor. Moreover, this high-schooler look alike with the wand in her hand, Rebecca, was actually the current lord of this land. When the monsters attacked, this young lass had indeed tried her hardest to put up a resistance. However, it clearly failed; the monsters broke all defenses and slaughtered all humanity they come across.. After leading the first batch of survivors to safety, she took her last stand in the castle with the last remaining soldiers in accordance with her duty as a lord. Although they managed to hold on for a while, in the end, the castle was also breached, and they had no choice but to take shelter in the tomb of their Ancestor underground.

Then they witnessed resurrection…..no possession of their ancestor right before their eyes..

And this beautiful woman, Heidi, was actually Rebecca’s aunt.

However, this hierarchy of seniority in the family had no meaning to Gawen; both were his great great great…granddaughters. Taking off one great didn’t make much of a difference.

As for the half-elf named Amber, she was a grave robber. However, this time, she was truly only looking for a shelter. This little girl’s grave robbing skills were indeed top-notch. She actually managed to penetrate into the deepest layer of Cecil Clan Ancestor’s grave.

“To wake up in such a mess….”Gawen massaged his temples while thinking of how to break out of this trouble, scanning his memories for anything relevant,”In other words, those monsters have completely occupied the land above. Going out will be suicide. You’ve been calling them monsters all this while, but what exactly are they?”

“My guess is that they are some kind of subspecies of demons.” Heidi said,”But it has been a long time since demons appeared in the primary material world, much less to speak of appearing in such immense numbers. I don’t dare to be certain.”

Rebecca clenched her want and looked at Gawen with an expectant gaze,”Ancestor, can’t you settle the problem outside with your strength?”

Gawen blankly stared for a moment,”Me?”

“Right! Weren’t you the strongest knight of not only Anzu Kingdom, but the whole northern continent?” Rebecca’s eyes shone like gems,”It’s said that you killed the great commander of Barbarians, Coorg, with a single swing of your sword.”

Gawen hurriedly flipped through his memories and was greatly shocked. Gawen Cecil was actually a legendary hero!

In the founding era of Anzu Kingdom, he was the most heroic character. He was also known as one of the earliest pioneers of the Second Foundation Era.

In the ancient era, Gondor Empire collapsed, and the remnants of the empire regressed back into uncivilized barbarians. In that dark age, when the light of the human civilization was being gradually snuffed out by the primal demon tide erupting from the heart of the continent, this Gawen Cecil and his fellow brave men led the remnants of humanity and escaped the crumbling empire. They marched in all four directions. The group who marched in the north was precisely the forefathers of Anzu Kingdom, and Gawen Cecil was one of them.

His life was extremely short, but extremely glorious. He started off as a fifteen-year-old youngster- becoming the youngest knight amongst the founders. In those days, he and his fellow knights as well as the first generation Anzu King cut their way through thorns and thistles, establishing a new country in the north of the kingdom and bringing the age of order and civilization back to humanity. Upon the establishment of the kingdom, he became one of the kingdom’s seven generals. He guarded the southern border and resisted more than ten big and small scale dark demon tides, never losing once.

However, the life of such a glorious character was akin to a candle that burned excessively luminous and fast. At the age of merely thirty, this legendary character died of exhaustion in his final battle against the demon tide.

The memories he’d inherited stopped at this point.

This was the life of a hero.

Gawen felt his forehead pulsating.

He’d obtained a terrible body!

He was not overjoyed, nor did he tremble in fear. After being stunned for a moment, the most he felt was …uncertainty.

Rebecca was looking at him expectantly; Amber was the same. Even Heidi, who seemed the most mature, was looking at him with a gaze filled with hope and trust.

However, their gazes were for Gawen Cecil, not Gawen.

Gawen looked at his own hands. These were the hands of a warrior; thick, sturdy, and calloused. He didn’t know how much power this body would show under his control.

However, he didn’t waver long. This was because his own memory supported him; memories of tens of thousands of years or even a hundred thousand years. Although the information in these memories might not amount to much, it still filled him with confidence.

He admitted that he was a little fazed by the legendary life of Gawen Cecil. However, he didn’t need to waver or be stunned, but firmly believe in himself.

The source was his confidence was very simple…

When the intelligent creatures on this continent were learning to walk, he’d been watching them from above.

He knew these memories had no practical significance, but they were enough to become the source of his motivation.

Relying on this motivation, he began to think how to survive.

And once he calmed down, means of survival naturally presented themselves.

He soon found out some useful things from the memories of Gawen Cecil.

“Fighting our way out is not feasible,” Gawen stroked his chin and gravely said,”I’ve been sleeping for a long time. I am not sure how much strength I have. Moreover, we can’t determine how powerful are the monsters outside. Therefore, the best option is to go around them and seek shelter.”

Rebecca said,”But the bridge is already down, and the other few roads are also dead ends.”

Gawen waved his hands and stopped this descendant of him, behind whose name he didn’t even know how many great-s to put,”Underground. Cecil Clan once led the Kingdom’s southern defense line. There is a secret tunnel system underground, and its main body has been blessed by earth elemental. Even if a thousand years had passed, it won’t collapse. And its entrance is precisely underneath the castle.”

“There is such a secret?” Rebecca revealed a pleasantly surprised expression,”Then what are we waiting for, let’s go look for the tunnel! Lead us, Ancestor!”

“But there is a problem.” Gawen spread his hands out,”I only know how to proceed from the castle. I have no idea how to leave this tomb.”

Rebecca was stunned,”How can you not the way around here after so much time?”

Gawen: “……”

Bryon Knight and the soldiers: “……”

Heidi’s face paled, feeling that her Ancestor might die from excessive anger in the face of such disappointing descendants.

Chapter 3

Chapter 3 – Finally…I Can Move

Upon sitting inside the strange black metallic coffin, Gawen sank into a grave stupefied state. In fact, even his act of sitting up was done unconsciously.

An unprecedented confusion and dizziness assaulted his mind. Buzzing filled his ears, while every part of his body gave all sorts of intense yet indistinguishable sensations. He could see at least four overlapping shadows of everything before his eyes, two of which were black and white. However, even under all this confusion, his ability to think still didn’t completely fail.

Perhaps he should thank the one who smashed the rod on his hand. It gave him a precious clarity of thoughts, since he was almost on the verge of sinking into complete chaos.

But that rod really hurt…

As his thoughts returned on the right track, Gawen finally recalled the events from before. His gaze was abruptly cut off, then there was something about escape protocol, followed by a misconception of an eternal fall, and now, this reality, ability to feel, and being able to move his body.

Body!!

He’d obtained a body!

After spending thousands upon thousands of years, when he’d almost come to believe that he’d indeed turned into a third-person-perspective gaze, Gawen had finally obtained a body!

The chaos in his mind could be attributed to the various sensations coming from all over his body. After all, he’d spent far too many years with no senses except sight. Even though his consciousness had managed to preserve for some unknown reasons, it was difficult for him to instantly adapt to such stimulating sensations.

However, Gawen could feel himself adapting to his body at a lightning fast speed, once again familiarizing himself with all sorts of sensations that the material world had to offer. As the dizziness in his mind somewhat lessened, the contradicting shadows before his eyes normalized, and he finally greeted his surroundings.

The first thing he saw were four armed burly fellows standing not far away from him. One among them was a grizzly-haired middle-aged man in steel armor which looked quite sturdy. He was holding a gray longsword; the muscles on his shoulders almost leveling with his forehead. As for the rest three, their armor and weapons seemed much more simpler, they seemed like the standard ones.

A petite girl was half-kneeling under the swords of these four burly fellows. He could not see her face. It was being blocked by her hair from his point of view. However, he could still see her sharp ears peeking out of her hair.

A little farther stood a woman in red-skirt. Her elegant and mature appearance coupled with her curvaceous body made Gawen take an extra glance at her. But he soon took notice of the unconcealable anxiety and fright in her eyes.

However, his attention was soon attracted by the commotion by his side. He turned his head and caught the sight of a flustered sixteen-seventeen year old girl jumping from the platform under his body. The girl was holding a metallic rod which seemed it would hurt a lot if hit…

Associating her position just now, Gawen’s face turned a little strange,”Was it you who just hit me now?”

As soon his voice came out, he was immediately dazed. He realized that the words coming out of his mouth were not Chinese but of a language he’d never heard before. However, for some reason, he felt as if these words were too familiar.

Rebecca had no idea what kind of chaos was erupting in the mind of her ‘ancestor’. This young noble lady, who had just inherited the title of Viscount and immediately ran into such misfortune, was already crying,”Ancestor….I’m sorry…I’m so sorry…”

“I….” Gawen still hadn’t completely realized what was happening. Although he’d been watching the world below for many many years, it was his first time operating in first-person mode in this world. The degree of his shock was a lot worse than any other person present on the scene,”You people are….”

That beauty in the red-skirt seemed the most calm and collected one. When Gawen took the initiative to converse, her face evidently relaxed a lot. At this moment, she walked forth. Although her face still seemed at guard, she calmly spoke,”May I ask if you know who you are?”

“Me?” Gawen was stunned for a moment. He immediately stopped himself before he could blurt out his name, realizing that he ought to have a different identity.

He looked at the trunk he was inside. Although it looked a bit strange, it was a coffin without a doubt. Then he looked at his surroundings. Despite being fairly bigger than his ancestor’s, it was a burial chamber no matter how you looked at it.

Finally, taking into account the expressions of everybody around him, Gawen finally recognized that he’d crawled out of a grave.

At this moment, if he spoke any name that was inconsistent with the identity of this corpse, he would be instantly purified in the name of an evil spirit. What did the girl next to him just said? Right! Ancestor. In that case, he made a bold guess. He’d entered the body of their ancestor. What this ancestor ate back in the day that allowed his body to not rot after so many years was secondary, first came the problem of him, being a foreign spirit, not only occupying the body of their ancestor’s sleeping body, but even kicking the lid of the coffin open. If it was exposed, the word ‘embarrassed’ wouldn’t be able to cover it.

Thinking to this point, Gawen lowered his head as if deep in thought. However, in reality, he was actually searching for an excuse such as his memory being a bit hazy due to long sleep. However, just as he was racking his brains for ideas, a strong wave of dizziness assaulted him.

He’d just recovered the dizziness of adapting to his new body, and he was immediately assaulted by a second one. It almost made his body tumble back into the coffin. The beauty in the red long skirt immediately tensed upon seeing strange behaviour of Gawen and raised her hand. As she was just about to calmly smash a huge fireball in the face of her ancestor, the deep and low voice coming from Gawen’s mouth interrupted her actions.

“Gawen Cecil, I’m Gawen Cecil, pioneer of Anzu Kingdom…. What era is this?”

Gawen spoke while raising his head. His eyes were calm and deep.

However, inside his mind, huge waves were rising.

The memories of Gawen Cecil frantically poured into his mind. However, they were rapidly being stored away like files in a hard disk. He’d just now gone through them superficially amidst his dizziness, allowing him to know his current identity.

The most surprising thing was that this body’s name was also Gawen.

However, their surnames were distinct. He was now a Cecil.

Was this a coincidence?

However, at this moment, Gawen had no time to ponder over how beautiful of a coincidence it was. The memory of Gawen Cecil was still pouring into his brain unceasingly. He had to try his hardest to not faint or not to reveal a fierce expression. in this bewildered condition, he indistinctly heard the girl who had struck his hand with her wand replying to him,”This is the seven-thirty-fifth year of Anzu Calendar. Ancestor has slept for over seven hundred years….”

Upon hearing Gawen’s answer, Heidi also let out a huge sigh of relief. As a learned and experienced caster, she had some understanding of the departed spirits coming back to life. These blasphemous creatures had a fatal defect in their souls. At the moment of their awakening, they were almost incapable of speaking and thinking. Even if the stronger ones could rapidly gain the ability to think, they would be completely forgetful of their previous lives.

Finally, they were absolutely incapable of speaking their own name. It didn’t matter if they had regained memory or have been told by others. Once the dead spoke their own name from when they were alive, they would be devoured by soul fire. Even if they didn’t die, the suffering alone was unbearable.

The phenomenon of being devoured by the soul fire could never be concealed.

Thus, although she was greatly relieved, she became even more confused. If it was not resurrection, then what the hell was going on?

The ancestor you were shouting to be dead suddenly rose?

However, regardless of the reason, the first priority was to keep one’s manners. She stepped forward and bowed with nervousness,”Cecil Clan Ancestor, I’m your descendant- Heidi Cecil, and she is also your descendant, Rebecca Cecil. She is young and impulsive, please ignore her previous reckless actions…and forgive our intrusion into your resting ground.”

Eh …This is my great great great…..granddaughter, and the one over there too.

The crazily pouring memories finally stopped. At this moment, Gawen had no time to seriously look through this neatly arranged information in his mind. He’d to first understand his current situation and surroundings as soon as possible. He placed his hand on the coffin, wishing to stand up and spoke,”Don’t worry about it, I myself have no idea how I woke up. Which of you will come give me a hand?”

He suddenly discovered that he seemed to have overestimated his control over his own body. Even after exerting himself fully, he was not able to pull himself up and immediately felt a little awkward.

Rebecca blankly stared at him for a while with her wand raised before retracting her stupefied expression and gladly jumping on the platform. She took Gawen’s arm and said,”I’ll help Ancestor out of the coffin …I’ll help Ancestor out of the coffin….”

The more Gawen heard, the more awkward it felt.

“Seven hundred years….” He stiffly walked out of the coffin with the girl’s help. Lowering his head, he looked at his clothes. His moved expression made Rebecca puzzled.

“What are these clothes made of?”

“Seem like Moongrain Cloth knitted by elves….”Rebecca replied without confidence.

“Dark science, indeed…”

Ancestor’s words seem so profound….

With Rebecca’s support, Gawen finally walked down the platform and stabilized himself on the ground. He could feel his control over his new body rapidly improving, as if his soul being was being rapidly installed. His consciousness and body seemed to be conforming with each other at an absurd speed.

He released her hand and tried to take a small step forward.

The next moment, he almost had tears streaming down his face. If there was any microphone before him, he felt he could individually thank every person he and every T.V. station he knew.

After so many years, other transmigrators dumped in novels would have already slaughtered gods and destroyed Buddhas, unifying the whole cosmos, while he’d only completed the first challenge of humanity- walking straight…

After accomplishing the feat of walking straight, he finally recalled something he’d overlooked- the four burly fellows were still holding down the little girl.

Chapter 2

Chapter 2 – Again, What The Hell? I Completed Transmigration And I Have To Crawl Out Of A Coffin?

The heavy stone gate, under the influence of the ancient spell, slowly closed. Magic power flowed through grooves on the ground and walls, creating a complete energy circuit. It completely cut off the world outside which was nothing short of a nightmare.

The bellows of captain, miserable screams of dying people, frightening howls of those frightening monsters- all sounds were blocked by the heavy rock and steel barrier. Although all of them knew that such a barrier was only temporary, Rebecca couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief in the momentary safety. How good it would be if the world outside was truly nothing but a nightmare….

However, the next moment, Rebecca threw her hair back and got rid of the feeble thoughts appearing in her mind. Thick rocks and steel couldn’t secure true, long-lasting safety. Instead, it ended up weakening her spirit by lulling her into a false sense of security. As her thoughts reached this point, this young successor of Cecil clan involuntarily clenched the already dimmed wand in her hand, hoping to gain courage from it.

Her family knight, Byron Kirk’s voice came from behind her,”Madam Viscount, passage has been sealed. Those monsters won’t be able to enter for the time being.”

Rebecca turned around and looked at the loyal knight. The latter’s steel armor had numerous scars and a considerable-sized dent on the breastplate. On his gray-colored short hair, there was an eye-catching burn scar. It was the result of her aunt Heidi using a huge fireball to save him from a monster’s mouth. That was a truly thrilling moment. The fireball had almost exploded on this mid-ranked knight’s skull. If not for the grace of god, this knight, who had devoted twenty years for the clan, would have turned into a corpse.

Of course, Rebecca didn’t dare claim that the true reason was not her aunt’s renowned and far-reputed constitution ‘Magic Never Hitting Anybody’ coming into play.

“You have worked hard, Knight Byron.” Rebecca dropped her eyelids, masking her exhaustion,”We should be able to catch a breath at least.”

She then turned her attention to the few remaining individuals by her side. Three soldiers were holding torches, keeping watch. Aunt Heidi, with a flaming fireball in her hand, was carefully observing the walls of the stone hall. And the silly little maid, Betty, holding onto the frying pan which she had kept in her hands through the entire journey, was peeking her head out from behind the soldiers, curiously observing the surroundings with her big shiny eyes.

Including her and Knight Byron, the seven of them were most likely the last survivors. Those left behind outside had no chance of survival.

After confirming the condition of everybody, Rebecca couldn’t help but turn her attention to the stone hall.

This was a place from the ancient era. In the rectangular stone hall, cobwebs and thick layers of dust could be seen everywhere. Some rotten articles were piled together in a corner. Despite utterly old-fashioned, one could make out how delicate and luxurious they must have been. On the walls of the hall, there were still intact murals and sculptures. Although the murals were faded and sculptures somewhat eroded, they were still distinct.

Heidi Cecil earnestly observed the murals and sculptures for quite a while. Compared to the current style-without-substance style that originated from the northern countries, the decorations here all focused on simplicity and grit. Emitting the aura of ‘first dynasty’, the murals showed heroic figures and local customs, while the sculptures had engravings of divine talismans as well as legends of gods. As a well-versed Caster, Heidi was excellent at deciphering meaningful information from these pictures.

After seeing the information in the murals and sculptures, Heidi couldn’t help but put her left hand on her bosom and mutter,”Forgive us, Ancestor…”

“Aunt Heidi,” Rebecca arrived beside her holding her wand. This young girl’s face carried a hint of nervousness. She’d finally recognized what kind of place she’d entered. She uneasily spoke,”This is…”

“This is the resting grounds of Cecil family’s Ancestor.” Heidi solemnly spoke,”Be very careful not to do anything disrespectful.”

Rebecca gulped and looked around.”Seems like it’s been a long time since anyone came here….”

“Ever since Marquis Gruman snatched the sacred object from the tomb a hundred years ago and participated in the rebellion that almost brought the whole family to ruins, this place had been sealed off. Every single descendant of the clan knows how to open this place, but due to the clan’s orders, nobody would dare to enter this place without permission unless it’s a life-and-death situation.” Heidi gave Rebecca a deep look,”In the past hundred years, we are the first to step into this place.”

“This is a life-and-death situation, alright,”Rebecca sucked in a deep breath and said,”Ancestor will forgive us, no?”

Heidi stiffly smiled. She was incapable of answering this question. She could follow the instructions in the murals and look for the mechanism to open the door which led to the burial chamber.

She didn’t have to spend much effort in order to find the special stone pillar. She placed her hand on top of the pillar and slowly pushed down.

The door leading to burial chamber slightly shook, and the flagstone slowly rose up amidst grinding noises.

However, the moment flagstone rose, Rebecca heard a strange sound coming from behind the door. It was the sound of something hitting the ground, immediately followed by a muffled shriek.

“There is someone inside?!” Heidi immediately reacted and growled,”Byron!”

The knight rushed inside holding his longsword without needing any further instruction. The three soldiers followed closely after him. After a momentary loss, Rebecca also rushed in while instructing the silly maid without turning her head back,”Betty! Find somewhere to hide!”

As soon as Rebecca arrived inside, she saw knight Byron slashing and chopping his sword at a petite, nimble figure.

The figure wriggled around knight Byron like a gust of wind. Moreover, every once in a few moments, she would turn into a black mist, merging inside the dark, shadowy regions ever-present inside the chamber. Her shadow-manipulation powers and footwork greatly widened Rebecca’s horizons. Usually, even several rogues wouldn’t last this long against knight Byron. However, under the encirclement of the three soldiers as well as Heidi blocking the entrance with a blazing flame in her hand, the petite figure had nowhere to escape. In the end, she fell on the ground in exhaustion.

Rebecca finally managed to get a clear look at this intruder’s appearance. She seemed like a girl of her age, albeit a bit shorter. She was wearing an old-fashioned leather armor that covered her entire body, except ears, hair, and face. Her appearance was exceptionally beautiful despite the mud stains on her face. However, her most attractive feature was her ears, which were sharp but not as long as that of elves. This was a clear indication of her bloodline; she was a half-elf.

However, there was no way to determine what lineage was her other half. After all, the elven bloodline was exceptionally powerful. Be it humankind or beastmen, both produced almost the same descendants after mixing with elven bloodline.

The moment she touched the ground, knight Byron rushed forth and placed his longsword on her neck. The other soldiers also surrounded her at once, pointing one sword each at her three escape routes.

“Who are you?! You dare intrude in the burial chamber of Cecil Clan’s Ancestor?” Heidi arrived in large strides. Her voice contained a fury that couldn’t be suppressed. As a noble descendant, her ancestor’s grave being robbed was enough to make all her hair stand up in rage. If this matter spread out, the already rock-bottom reputation of Cecil Clan would most likely be completely lost.

Rebecca also glared at the half-elf with eyes wide opened. Although this matter still had her a bit confused, for an outsider to intrude the forbidden burial chamber of their ancestor was indeed enough to make her furious.

With the longsword pressing on her neck and being glared by Rebecca and Heidi, the half-elf spoke in a trembling voice,”Hold on …hold on for a moment! I haven’t even stolen anything yet!!”

The longsword in Byron’s hand pressed harder against her neck,”You sure have guts!”

As soon as Byron finished speaking, a strange clutter sounded from the black steel coffin lying at the center of the chamber. Everybody, including Rebecca, instantly turned silent.

A moment later, Rebecca was the first one to respond. Creating a fist-sized fireball at the tip of her wand, she pointed it at the half-elf,”What did you do to our ancestor?”

The half-blood immediately cried out,”Don’t kill me, yet! Instead of me…. look your ancestor’s grave is shaking!”

Following the little half-elf’s sob, the cluttering coming the coffin increased greatly, even its lid seemed to be moving.

“Ancestor!” Heidi’s face paled. For this woman, who was considered a graceful lady in the noble circles, to lose cool in such a manner was definitely a first.”Please continue your rest! The person who disturbed you shall be punished…”

The half-elf vehemently retorted,”What are you doing talking nonsense at this moment?! Hurry and suppress your ancestor’s lid!”

The three soldiers glanced at each other, and even Knight Byron was rendered utterly speechless. Rebecca finally reacted and sped towards the coffin. The moment she stepped on the coffin’s platform, the coffin’s lid completely opened, and a hand stretched out from within.

Seeing this scene, Rebecca raised her wand and smashed down in an arc,”Ancestor! Continue your rest!”

The hand coming out from the coffin was smashed back, and a painful scream came from within,”Fuck! Who smashed my hand!”

Rebecca blankly raised her head and saw her knight, aunt, as well as the three soldiers all staring at her dumbfounded.

Rebecca then lowered her head and looked her wand. This was her time to cry,”Aunt, have I disrespected the ancestor?”

However, Heidi loudly shouted,”Rebecca! Get off right now!”

Rebecca blankly stared,”Aunt?”

“This might be resurrection!” Heidi’s face turned deathly pale,”Those monsters outside …they’ve corrupted ancestor’s bones!”

This possibility immediately made Rebecca break into a cold sweat. Just as she was about to make a break and hide behind the soldiers, the lid of the coffin was again moved. This time, the person seemed to have used his full power, sending the lid flying!

Following which, a light-brown haired man with a heroic and dignified face wearing clothes of the ancient nobility sat up.

The half-elf, who was half-kneeling on the ground, couldn’t help but sigh at this scene,”See that…..Your ancestor has completely resurrected.”

Chapter 1 What The Hell, I Crossed Over Into A Gaze

Year X Month X Week X; Hour XX Minute XX, Second XX.

The world underneath was as it had always been. The observable region was sunny, without wind, and with thin and sparse layers of clouds.

Gawen quietly looked down upon the distant world with an absolute vantage point while pondering over the meaning of life. After all, there was nothing else for him to do.

He could no longer remember how many years he had been in this state, nor did he know what was his current appearance. Although he could keep track of time through the passage of day and night, after hundreds of thousands of instances, he no longer felt like counting.

This counts as crossing over, no?

In reality, Gawen actually didn’t mind ‘crossing over’. This was not because he’d come to disregard life and death through some great enlightenment. His previous self, who was going down with the plane, had come to an understanding of the phrase ‘life is full of vicissitudes, death is the end’. After all, under the circumstances of absolute death, he would rather cross over than being in a casket. However, what he absolutely did mind that he was floating in the sky after crossing over.

And floating for thousands upon thousands of years…

Gawen didn’t know what was his current state. He couldn’t shift his gaze, nor could he feel the existence of his body. In fact, apart from vision, he’d already lost all of his other senses. Therefore, he couldn’t tell if he was currently a remnant spirit or a corpse floating in outer space. There was one thing he was certain of- he was not floating in the form of a normal human body.

This was because he was sure that a normal human’s consciousness would not be able to think, retain its memories, and even ponder the meaning of life after floating for so many years in the sky.

A normal person would have long gone insane.

However, he’d not gone insane. Instead, his memory had become outstanding.

The passage of tens of thousands of years didn’t have any effect on Gawen’s memories. To this moment, he could clearly recall the final experience of his previous self; ear-piercing shrieks, alarm ringing, violently shaking cabin, the unceasingly shifting world outside the window, his neighbor, whose gas mask never made it on his face, and the huge explosion as the airplane collapsed.

He could remember everything as if it happened yesterday. He could also remember the shock when he opened his eyes and found himself floating over a strange planet.

From the moment he opened his eyes, he knew that he was not watching the land and ocean of earth. Thereupon, after pondering for a while, he came to terms with the fact that he’d crossed over to a different world. Next, he studied ways to make himself come down again.

Unfortunately, he completely failed

He discovered that he was ‘fixed’. In other words, his current state had no ability to move. He had turned into a ‘fixed gaze’ watching the world. Even after that, he could only watch a portion of it. This portion was a strange looking continent, surrounded by an ocean. Apart from his point of view, he couldn’t go the slightest bit further in any direction.

Since he was incapable of adjusting his line of sight in the slightest, he couldn’t tell if there were other continents. To this day, he’d yet to see the starry sky of this world.

He wasn’t even sure if this world had any other celestial bodies. Who knew if he turned his head around and found a white-bearded celestial emperor holding a light lantern, illuminating the world.

Fuck, i really want to backstroke, ah…

Even if he could only see a white-bearded celestial emperor holding a light lantern, he would be more than willing.

However, it was nothing but a pipe dream. His line of sight simply couldn’t be changed.

However, after striving for a long time, Gawen finally found an aspect in which he could manipulate his line of sight slightly. Although it still couldn’t be moved, he could magnify and shrink the area within his vision. Or one could say that he was able to pull or push his field of view.

Upon making this discovery, he was excited for a long time, and he immediately began to adjust his field of view, trying all sorts of variations. Although he couldn’t see beyond the ocean even after pulling his field of view as much as he could, by zooming in, he could see what was going on in the continent.

The surface was lush and verdant, brimming with vitality and life.

‘Seeing the daily life of these otherworldly people is quite good too. I can still only float about, but watching the local customs of otherworldlings can surely make my life easier, no?’

He then zoomed his field of vision to the limit, which was enough to let him see every grass and every tree on the continent.

That day, he discovered, to his despair, that the mammals here had yet to….

……learn to walk on two feet.

However, it didn’t matter. His patience might have been limited when was living, but after crossing over into an overseeing gaze, he discovered his patience to be immense.

He waited in a daze until these bunch of monkeys finally learned to walk on two feet.

Many more years passed by. He personally witnessed the moment when the first man-made fire appeared.

It sparked off from stones.

And it brought a transformation with it.

Gawain didn’t know what happened but he could feel as if everything was ‘rapidly’ changing since that moment. Or one could say that a problem had aroused in his perception of time. The entire world was rapidly changing, as if everything was being played in fast-forward video. He saw the human-like species creating their first tribe, which soon evolved into cities.

He saw that these humanoids commanding outrageous abilities. Using magic like techniques, they expanded their territories. However, before he could discern what occurred on the continent, these newborn kingdoms all turned into ruins one after another. However, from these ruins, new humanoid creatures arouse and quickly multiplied.

Humankind and other races began fighting over the land. They erected all sorts of kingdoms and all sorts of faiths, then waged war in the name of gods. However, they too disappeared at a lightning fast speed.

The pace of events was getting increasingly quicker. Gawen could no longer keep up with the huge amounts of information he was witnessing. He suddenly saw huge dragon creatures intrude his field of vision. He didn’t know if these ‘huge dragons’ were the result of natural evolution or came from outside the ocean.

He saw armies clashing, the battles of which almost destroyed the world. However, in a blink of an eye, another civilization arose.

After a while, he realized that the events of the world were not quickening, rather he was skipping over a large amount of information.

His ‘field of view’ was becoming more and more intermittent. From watching in continuation in the beginning, it turned into a few scenes through years. These time spans seamlessly combined large scenes, making him feel as if everything was fast-forwarding.

The reason he could not recognize it was because when his gaze was cut off, his thoughts would also become still.

When his observation resumed, his thinking also resume in a flawless manner.

Therefore, he was unable to recognize that the problem actually lay within him.

This is bad.

These three words struck his mind like lightning. However, even this lightning-like thought took several hundred years to strike.

Because he could clearly see that the world had completely changed. By the time these three words appeared in his mind, another civilization in its peak had turned into ruins.

Gawen didn’t know what was happening. But he was sure that this was not normal. From the time span between scenes, he could infer that his consciousness was actually about to fade away.

Through a hundred years, his thoughts didn’t even make a second.

Moreover, his ‘lapses in consciousness’ were constantly increasing.

Because he’d realized that the degree of his skipping over the events happening underneath had already reached an unimaginable height. The scenes passing in a blur had already changed into a lightning fast ‘slideshow’. It had become so fast that he could no longer make sense of what he was seeing.

If this continued, perhaps the consciousness of the being known as Gawen would completely dissipate in this unfathomable place. He would fall into an eternal slumber, no longer able to wake again.

After tens of thousands of years, Gawen felt a sense of urgency for the first time. He frantically began to frantically rack his brains. He felt that his brain(if he still had such an organ) was moving at a lightning fast speed, pouring out one idea after another. However, the slideshow going down clearly told him that it was actually slowed down to a ration of thousands of years.

Of course, it was a little exaggerated. But his true condition was not much better.

Break this situation, break this situation, break this situation…

This situation had to be broken, be it in any shape or form. Even if he were to return on that crashing plane, it would be better than dying this unfathomable death in this unfathomable place.

Gawen felt his thoughts becoming chaotic and consciousness gradually turning indistinct. His originally ‘seamless thoughts’ began to feel a bit problematic. He furiously thought with all his might. However, he, who had crossed over into a ‘gaze’, had no way of changing his current situation.

However, just as he felt that his thoughts were going to completely dissipate or turn still, a voice suddenly arrived from somewhere.

“Power Source Malfunction, Main Engine Reboot Failed.”

“Escape Protocol Initiated.”

The next moment, his gaze disappeared, and darkness appeared before him.

However, his thoughts didn’t stop.

For the first time in countless years, he had closed his ‘eyes’ and preserved his thoughts.

After spending an unknown time in this darkness, he felt as if he’d been rolled over and dropped down. He entered a cold, narrow space. All kinds of unfamiliar sensations came from his four limbs and hundreds of bones, turning his mind into a chaotic mess. From amidst this chaotic mess, he heard a girl’s voice. The voice seemed quite flustered.

“No……don’t kill me yet! Rather than me …look your ancestor’s grave is shaking!”
